Educational Awards
Catholic Grade School Award is a $150 award that is payable one-time to LPSCU members with a $2,000 permanent reserve life insurance plan and is a member of the LPSCU for two (2) years. The member must be enrolled in a Catholic Grade School in the fall of the award year.

Catholic High School Award is a $300 award that is payable one-time to members of the LPSCU with a $2,000 permanent reserve life insurance plan and is a member for two (2) years. The member must be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in the fall of the award year.

College Award is a $500 award that is payable one-time to members of the LPSCU with a $2,000 permanent reserve life insurance plan and a member for two (2) years. The member must be a high school senior, college freshman, sophomore or junior in the fall of the award year.
The Margaret Sabol Scholarship Award is a $1,000 scholarship for students pursuing a degree in Science, including Medical Science. This scholarship, given in memory of Margaret Sabol, who was a member of LPSCU Branch 42 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is funded entirely through the generosity of Margaret’s daughter, who is also a member of Branch 42. One lucky qualified applicant will be chosen for the $1,000 scholarship. The winner will be selected by Margaret’s daughter from among all qualified applicants. (Note: No individual shall be eligible to receive the scholarship more than two times.)
The Margaret Sabol Scholarship Award Application
Anne ‘Shinal’ Cichy Memorial Award is given in memory of Anne ‘Shinal’ Cichy, the first LPSCU Public Relations Director which is made possible through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Shinal. This award is offered to LPSCU members who are full time students pursuing a degree in the health care field. The member must have a life insurance plan with the LPSCU and attend an accredited college in the fall of the award year on a full time basis. Proof of acceptance/attendance must be provided. The recipient of this $750 award is selected by a random drawing from among all qualified applicants.
Anne ‘Shinal’ Cichy Memorial Award Application
Bishop Andrew G. Grutka Memorial Scholarship Award was established at the LPSCU 37th National Convention in 2000 and is given in memory of Bishop Andrew G. Grutka, an outstanding Slovak leader who was the founding Bishop of Gary, Indiana. The award is offered to LPSCU members with a $5,000 legal permanent reserve life insurance plan and is a member for two (2) years. This award of $1,000, with a maximum of $2,000, recognizes young adult students between the ages of 18 to 35, for their involvement in pastoral life, activities of the church and being involved with organizations and their activities which promote pride in the Slovak heritage. To receive the maximum of $2,000, the member must reapply.
Bishop Grutka Memorial Scholarship Award Application
The Ohio Fraternal Alliance Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior who meets the required criteria.
Post Graduate Award is a $500 award that is payable one-time to members of the LPSCU with a $5,000 permanent reserve life insurance plan and is a member for at least five (5) years. Members who qualify, may receive this award one-time upon receiving a Master’s Degree and one-time upon receiving a Doctorate. Members wishing to apply for both the Master’s and Doctorate Post Graduate award must apply separately and provide all required criteria to be eligible.

Religious Awards
For Applicants entering Religious Life
The Saint John Vianney Award is offered to any male member of the LPSCU aspiring to the priesthood. The member may apply for the award of $300 upon entrance into an approved program of priestly formation. The award may be renewed for each successive year until ordination, provided he re-applies for said award.
Religious Award Application
The St. Theresa of the Little Flower Award is offered to any female member of the LPSCU aspiring to religious life. The member may apply for the award of $300 upon completion of her first year of Novitiate. The award may be renewed annually until the member is professed as a religious nun, provided she re-applies for said award.

The St. Andre Bessette C.S.C. Award is offered to a male member of the LPSCU aspiring to religious life as a Brother in a religious congregation. The member may apply for the award of $300 upon entrance into an approved program for Religious Brother formation. The award may be renewed for each successive year until completion of the program, provided he re-applies for said award.
