Book Buy Program Application
Effective January 1, 2007, the LPSCU introduced the Educational Book Buy Program. Additionally, on June 24, 2016, the Board of Directors increased the college book expense reimbursement percentage from 10% to 15%.
What is the Book Buy Program?
This program, available in addition to any existing LPSCU Educational Awards, reimburses 15% of your college book expenses.
How to Qualify:
- Purchase a new 20 Payment Life or Whole Life Certificate during the student’s freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior year.
- Maintain current premium payments (annual, semi-annual, or quarterly).
- Submit an LPSCU Educational Book Buy Program Application each school year with receipts for book purchases.
Reimbursement Details:
- The 15% reimbursement is capped at the amount paid for the annual premium on your 20 Payment Life or Whole Life Policy.
Examples:
- Example 1: A 19-year-old female student purchases a $10,000 20 Payment Life policy with an annual premium of $99.70 (excluding administration fee). They submit receipts for $650 in book purchases. The program will reimburse $97.50 (15% of books purchased).
- Example 2: A 19-year-old male student purchases a $10,000 20 Payment Life policy with an annual premium of $114.60 (excluding administration fee). They submit receipts for $750 in book purchases. The program will reimburse $112.50 (15% of books purchased).
Program Duration:
You can participate in this program for a maximum of four (4) years.
